Classic Chickpea Hummus

Some classics are too good to mess with. This hummus recipe is one of them. All of the protein and goodness of chickpeas, with the classic smooth and creamy texture. Enjoy as a dip, spread, or side.

 2 cups Organic chickpeas (canned or cooked from dry)
 2 Cloves of raw garlic (peeled and smashed)
 2 tbsp Tahini
 2 tbsp Lemon juice
 2 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
 ½ tsp Ground cumin
 ½ tsp Each – sea salt and ground pepper
 ¼ cup Water, if needed

In a food processer pulse the clove of garlic until it breaks up.

Scrape sides of food processer and add all ingredients, except water. Blend until smooth.

Add water, if needed to produce a smoother consistency.

Hummus is ready to serve!

Typical garnish for classic hummus is a sprinkle oy cayenne pepper and a drizzle of olive oil. You can experiment with different toppings such as olive or sun dried tomato tapenade, pesto, or chili flakes.
