I’M SELINA

I know all about having an overfilled schedule. I also know how easy it can be to put off exercise, eating well, and taking time for yourself…because I did that for a long time too.

Today I’m an ambitious entrepreneur, an author and a holistic nutritionist with a full client roster. I speak in front of thousands of people, am often interviewed on TV, radio, and podcasts, I have published articles in magazines, I write a weekly blog with thousands of readers and have taught yoga to groups of 2 to 250+ people. But before all that, I worked at a busy advertising agency in Downtown Toronto.

Back then, whenever my upset stomach tried to tell me I wasn’t well, I just doubled down and did more work to distract myself.

The truth was, I hated my job. I was malnourished, sick, and exhausted. Finally, I had to face the sad fact that if I kept going this way I’d be burnt out, alone, and look like I was 50 by age 30. (Ugh, no thanks).

To be fair, it wasn’t a quick road to recovery. That’s because I had let things fester for so long. It took me three painful years of medical tests to discover I had a gluten intolerance. Then I invested several more years to figure out how to adapt my lifestyle so I could maintain my newfound health.
That’s when I discovered my passion for holistic nutrition, yoga, and natural healing through food. Now it’s my mission to teach people who are ambitious and busy (like me) how to prioritize their health through a few practical steps.

But you need to know I’m certainly not “perfect” (and neither is my diet). Anyone who knows me knows that hamburgers are my all-time favourite food (that’s why there’s a burger recipe in my cookbook!) Enjoying your food and your body is part of life. I would never want to live a strict and joyless life myself, and I don’t want that for you either. Enjoying life is about finding what works for you long-term, that just might include hamburgers (or wine).
